Clayton
is one of the regions best kept secrets and can be reached via
Currency Creek, Finnis or Milang. There are many wonderful wineries
in the local area including the fast growing Langhorne Creek area.
Scenic
views of the Adelaide Hills, Lake Alexandrina, Lower Murray and
Hindmarsh Island can be enjoyed from Clayton which is located 13km
south of Milang.
The
"Sails" licensed restaurant provides excellent meals. A licensed
bottle shop and general store with take-away food are added
conveniences.
A well
established Boat Club/Marina plus public concrete launching ramps
are available for the boating enthusiast, whilst the Clayton
Foreshore Walking Trail has been established for those who would
like to set off hiking.. The Information Bay and Cliff Top Walk has
been completed with the next stage of a boardwalk around the lakes
edges to get underway in the near future. The last stage will
continue around to the Old Clayton Bay area with the final look-out
point at the reserve next to Sunset Cottage.
The
temperate climate makes Clayton an ideal place for summer or winter
holidays and is central to the larger towns such as Langhorne Creek,
Milang, Strathalbyn, Goolwa and Victor Harbor.
